Project Wareham wins ICE SW Award

Swanage Railway were recently announced as winners of the Institution of Civil Engineers’ South West region Civil Engineering Award in the <£1million Project category.  The civil engineering project, supported by GB Card & Partners, has been completed to restore and upgrade three miles of former Network Rail line through Dorset, allowing Passenger trains to once again run from the London Waterloo to Weymouth main line at Wareham to Swanage, along the heritage railway branch line.  Representatives from Swanage Railway and GB Card & Partners accepted the award at the black tie dinner held in Bristol in July.

Soil treatment and materials recovery in the South West

GB Card & Partners recently attended the Soil treatment and Materials Recovery workshop at the Exeter library, run by CL:AIRE in conjunction with the Geological Society and the South West Contaminated Land Forum.  The aim of the workshop was to provide an update on the latest industry guidance on material management, paying particular reference to the CL:AIRE Definition of Waste:Code of Practice (DOW:COP) updates and the recent asbestos in soil guidance (CAR-SOIL).

ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards

GB Card & Partners is attending the ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards being held this evening at the AtBristol Science Centre.  Project Wareham, a civil engineering scheme undertaken to connect a heritage railway to the mainline, has been shortlisted for an award and GBCP and guests including representatives from Swanage Railway are grateful for the recognition given to this project during the judging process.  We would like to congratulate all those shortlisted and wish everyone the best for a successful evening and one that celebrates a wide variety of civil engineering projects and skills here in the South West.
