International Women in Engineering Day
#INWED17 is a day to celebrate the success of women in what is still very much a male dominated career space.
As a profession that still struggles with encouraging females into the industry and then to retain them throughout their career, IWED pushes barriers and challenges the perception of the title Engineer.
We, as an industry, are getting better, but there is still a long way to go. Whilst gender should not be viewed as more important than ability, unless engineering is seen by females as an exciting, rewarding and welcoming career prospect, there will always be a need for days such as this.
We look forward to the day when we celebrate engineering, no longer having to refer to gender. But in the meantime….. let’s celebrate!

Cathy Lee, Director
“I wholeheartedly support any organisation that highlights the ability and achievements of outstanding female engineers, geologists and scientists and I encourage my own daughters to look up to these strong intelligent women as role models.”
