GB Card Steaming ahead with Heritage Railways
GB Card and Partners are now fully immersed in various heritage railway projects across the country expanding the company’s expertise in engineering heritage railways.
Current projects include;
- Bluebell Railway Western Extension Project
- Swanage Heritage Railway
- Great Central Railway
The Bluebell Railway WEP is the latest railway project taken on by GB Card and the scheme would involve renewing and reopening the railway along the formation of the former Horsted Keynes to Haywards Heath Line, as far as Ardingly.
Dick Fearn, Bluebell Railway PLC Chairman has stated,
‘The Western Extension Project offers real potential for further visitor growth and service level enhancement on the Bluebell Railway. In particular, by providing a direct link to the railway from Brighton and the other south coast resorts, the link to Haywards Heath would attract an increase in new visitors.’
GB Card are currently undertaking initial investigations and look forward to seeing the project develop.
GB Card are also supporting the latest project by Swanage Railway Trust, the overhaul and restoration of locomotive no.563 to return it to steam by 2022. The Adams T3 locomotive was designed by William Adams and this project is particularly close to GB Card and Partner’s heart as employee Harry Card is a direct descendent of Adams.
