This month saw GB Card & Partners commence GI on the last great brownfield site in London for signature development by Ballymore Group.

Bishopsgate Goodsyard is being promoted as “A complementary mix of independent traders, new startups and international brands, along with a brand new park and 500 new homes”. With the intent being to breathe new life into a site that’s laid derelict since 1964.

A job like this is not without its challenges. It’s a complex site intersected by underground infrastructures as well as other vital services and some of the greatest issues are the historic railway arches. These are being preserved and incorporated into the development scheme and one of GB Card & Partners tasks will involve the investigation of the foundations and the top of the historic arches.

Nick Bonner, GB Card & Partners Associate, is in charge of the whole operation and says “The investigation has taken over 18 months in planning, value engineering and setting out to avoid LUL & TfL running tunnels, but we are all go on site now for the next 4 months with cable percussive, rotary and windows sampling rigs and trial pitting crews – in fact a wide range of investigation techniques
