Collaboration and best practice

Associate Director Ian Cutler from GB Card & Partners Exeter office supported the seminar on Collaboration, development and sustainable legacy at Weymouth.  Ian gave a presentation on Project Wareham – the ICE Award winning community rail extension linking Swanage to the main line at Wareham.

The event was held in memory of the late Nick Lyness, past ICE South West Chair (2010/11) and a keen supporter of successful collaboration within civil engineering.  The seminar, which took place in Weymouth, looked at Nick’s involvement with a number of projects across the south west.  It shared a few family experiences in addition to featuring new developments and initiatives, particularly associated with data gathering, information sharing and a collaborative approach to engineering projects.

Representatives from the public and private sector joined together to hear about and discuss such topics as ‘The value of data, quality and consistency’ and ‘Climate Change and designing for the future’, as well as looking at several case studies from projects showcasing successful team working.

Nick recorded a brief talk for the ICE which can be viewed below
