CIRIA embedded retaining wall publication (C760)
Principal Engineer Rob Benson and Associate Ian Cutler attended the launch of the new CIRIA embedded retaining wall publication (C760) at the Institution of Structural Engineers in London.
The 2003 version was an important reference document for geotechnical engineers involved in the design and specification of retaining walls. The new version, funded by HS2, seeks to clarify the application of the Eurocodes to design practice and provides guidance on the use of advanced numerical analysis, now commonly used as a design tool for more complex structures and to assess ground movements as a result of wall construction. The document also seeks to promote the use of the Observational Method to economise designs during construction.
Attendance at the event demonstrates GBCPs commitment to adopting the latest and best practice in geotechnical design and analysis, and the new document will undoubtedly be well used by practicing civil and geotechnical engineers in the future.
ISO 9001:2015
We are currently in the process of obtaining UKAS accreditation through ISO:9001. As a small company, this process had not been commenced until recently, but our commitment to quality and planned growth has driven us to achieve this recognised award. We hope to have this in place early in 2017.

Charitable Support
Our desire is to give something back where we can and one of the ways in which we can do this is through charitable support. We have a long history supporting the Swanage Railway Trust and have recently helped them achieve a significant milestone in their ambitions (see Case Studies), as well as supporting the Anderson Foundation in their charitable work and most recently on their NAS school. Historically, we have worked as far afield as Burkina Faso, and are currently supporting some of our structural engineering colleagues at Packman Lucas with a site in the Himalayas. If you have a project or an enquiry that you think we could assist with, please contact us.
