Summer Student Placement

We’ve recently had the pleasure of Maisie joining the GB Card Team in the Exeter office for a student placement. Maisie is currently studying Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cardiff University.

Maisie’s been a great addition getting stuck straight in with a number of roles for various projects. She has been introduced to using a wide variety of software, including gINT, AutoCAD, Oasys, PDisp, GSA, and SLOPE, and has run her own analysis independently. Alongside this, she has studied a variety of reports and British Standards, undertaken data analysis and gained an understanding of some of our large projects.

As things remain busier than ever it’s been great to have an extra person in the office to assist and we wish Maisie all the best on her next year at university.

International Women’s Day 2023

Today, Wednesday 8th March, is International Women’s Day and the 2023 theme is around #EmbraceEquity.

“The aim of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about Why equal opportunities aren’t enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action”.

Acknowledging equality & equity is very important to GB Card & Partners. Within all STEM  (science, technology, engineering & math) based industries the likelihood of men outnumbering women is high, statistically only 28% of the workforce is made up by women. At GB Card & Partners we’re proud to say our workforce is 50/50 which is a rarity but we appreciate there is still work to do within the wider geo-engineering field to ensure equality & equity for all.
