GB Card & Partners are delighted to congratulate Valentina on her recent promotion to Principal Engineer.

Since joining the company in February 2020 Valentina has gone from strength to strength, including being awarded the status of Chartered Environmentalist. Some of Valentina’s most significant projects have included,

• Geotechnical Design Strategy and Outline Remediation Strategy for the proposed commercial development of a former chalk quarry (Coldhams Lane, Cambridge).
• Assessment of the ground gas and water data to address the requests of the Environment Agency for the surrender of the Environmental Permit (Former landfill Mardyke Farm).
• Phase 1, site investigation and interpretative geo-environmental report to support the obtainment of the planning permission for an industrial development (Freebournes Industrial Estate, Witham).

Proposals for six new industrial units at Freebournes Industrial Estate, Witham, Essex, have recently been approved by Braintree District Council’s planning committee, representing another successful development opportunity for our client, Galliard Homes.

GB Card & Partners was involved from the early stages of the project, preparing a Phase 1 desk study report, designing a ground investigation and providing environmental and geotechnical information to support the planning application. Our Phase 2 report included human health and controlled waters risk assessments, and geotechnical recommendations, including soakaway drainage and foundation design.

GB Card & Partners are excited to announce the recent promotion of employee Alberto Cazzaniga to Principal Engineer.

Since joining the company two and a half years ago Alberto has been a dedicated employee, so we are delighted to recognise his hard work with this promotion.

Alberto would like to offer thanks to all the people at GBCP for the support on both personal and professional aspects as well as giving him the opportunity to do get involved with the following challenges:

• Approval of the first phase of the residential development of a former landfill located in east Kent (Faversham).
• Approval of the extensive remediation works of a former automotive manufacturing plant (Dagenham, London).
• Design of an integrated remediation and geotechnical strategy for the redevelopment of a former petrol filling station comprising ground improvement technique and re-use of site-won material.

Currently Alberto is working on the following,

• Full package work including site investigation, scoping and interpretative report and foundation works risk assessment with a tight schedule.
• Monitoring and remediation of chlorinated solvents plumes at a former manufacturing plant and at a former dry cleaning.
• Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment of ground contamination vapours and dissolved contamination.
