Welcome to Harriet
This month we welcome new starter Harriet to the GB Card & Partners team. Harriet will be joining our Canterbury office as an Engineer and has already hit the ground running, immersing herself in several of our key projects in the south-east.
Harriet graduated from the University of Exeter (Camborne School of Mines) in 2019 with a 2:1 in Engineering Geology and Geotechnics, then went on to study an MSc in Tunnelling at the University of Warwick with a final project designing a potential underground freight system in London.
Following that Harriet then worked for a year as a geotechnical engineer on the Long Itchington Wood Tunnel for HS2 and has also undertaken fieldwork across Europe, including a month’s exploration in Norway looking for gold and volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits.
As 2022 continues to deliver plenty of exciting and interesting projects, it’s great to have Harriet join the team. Should you wish to contact Harriet about any projects you can email her at hpascoe@gbcardandpartners.com.

GB Card & Partners at Levenseat Rock Finger
GB Card & Partners has recently been on site at Levenseat in Scotland, a former rock quarry turned waste management facility, a project we have been involved with for almost a decade. GB Card & Partners have been providing long-term geotechnical engineering advice during the various phases of redevelopment at the facility.
Our involvement in the wider project includes advising on the redevelopment of the former sand quarry to ensure works are designed and undertaken in a safe manner and in accordance with Regulation 33 of the Quarries Act. Coal, ironstone and limestone workings underlie the site and GB Card & Partners also has the responsibility of checking and assessing for mine working collapse.
During our most recent visit, Managing Director Geoff Card inspected a new area of the quarry being redeveloped for an air particulate recovery plant, converting dust into cementitious material, part of the Levenseat Energy from Waste facility, the biggest recycling and energy plant in Scotland.
Levenseat Energy from Waste facility will produce enough energy to power 25,000 homes, diverting 5 million tonnes of waste from landfill, saving 1.3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions in the process. GB Card & Partners are proud to support the drive towards providing cleaner energy in the UK.

Welcome Charlie
GB Card & Partners are pleased to announce yet another wonderful addition to the GB Card and Partners team. Charlie has recently joined the company as an Engineer and will be working on our South East projects.
Charlie graduated from the University of Southampton in 2018 with a First class MSci in Geology and then went on to undertake Organic Geochemical post graduate research looking into the recovery of life from the Chicxulub impact crater, responsible for the K/Pg mass extinction event.
Charlie also has 18 months experience as an Exploration Geologist, working on remote greenfield mineral (Au, Cu, Ni, Co) exploration campaigns in Western Australia as well as 6 months experience working on a range of geotechnical and environmental ground investigations across London as well as the South and East of England.
We are excited about everything Charlie will bring to the organisation. Should you wish to contact Charlie regarding any projects you can email him at cgurr@gbcardandpartners.com.
