GB Card & Partners comprises predominantly chartered professionals, with backgrounds in engineering, geology and sciences, with significant experience of the construction and development sectors.  Whilst all employees have impressive career profiles, an overview of the senior team members is provided below.

Dr. Geoffrey B. Card, BSc PhD CEng FICE EurIng CGeol FGS CSci

Geoff has over 35 years of experience in providing civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering solutions all over the world. He has considerable experience of major transport and infrastructure projects such as London Docklands, Crossrail, and signature building developments in the Thames Corridor.

He is a recognised expert on the design and construction of development on derelict land such as shallow mine workings, contaminated and landfill gassing sites. He is often called upon to provide litigation support in relation to the risks associated with brownfield redevelopment and geotechnical issues.

Geoff has authored much of the UK’s guidance relating to ground gas and has sat on various steering groups and drafting committees. He has directed the assessment and remediation of many brownfield sites reshaping the London Skyline, including Wandsworth Riverside Quarter, Millennium Harbour, Embassy Gardens, and the Olympic Velodrome.

Laura Bacon, BSc CGeol EurGeol FGS RoGEP

Laura has over fifteen years’ experience in geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering consultancy for major infrastructure, commercial/industrial and residential development projects across the UK.

Laura also has experience in the project management of site investigations, data reviews, risk assessment of contaminated land, ground remediation design, foundation design, slope stability analysis and third-party independent reviews.

Additionally, Laura is responsible for business management and development of GB Card & Partners as well as management of large building and infrastructure projects, technical support and human resources. In November 2022 Laura was promoted to Director.

Nick Bonner, BSc (Hons)

With over 16 years’ experience Nick has worked on many complex geotechnical and geo-environmental remediation and ground investigation projects within a wide range of environments, including over water jack-up platforms, tidal culverts, reservoirs, floodplains, street works, gas holder sites, London Underground and Network Rail infrastructure, schools, agricultural and commercial areas, and greenfield sites.

Nick also has extensive experience of ecology and asbestos projects, and in 2018/19 was a Site Agent on a large investigation in Dartford to inform options for flood defences with a focus on deriving parameters to enable seepage analysis and design of a system of relief wells.

Nick joined GB Card & Partners in July 2020 as part of our growing London team and is involved in a wide range of projects. In December 2022 Nick was promoted to Associate.

Alberto Cazzaniga, MSc MIEnvSc

Alberto has over 16 years’ experience in contaminated land projects in the UK and EU. His expertise comprises project management and the design and supervision of site investigation and remediation works. He has a comprehensive experience in the production of technical reports and Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment (DQRA) for the redevelopment of brownfield land.

Following his MSc in Environmental Engineering, Alberto joined Golder Associates (Italy) in 2006. He commenced his experience in the investigation and remediation of petrol stations and oil depots. Between 2009 and 2015 he managed three international projects located in Ireland, India and Kazakhstan to lead the local project team and design the remediation works.

Alberto moved to the UK to join Ecologia Environmental Solutions in 2015. Since then he has worked on a variety of contaminated land projects including infrastructure works, manufacturing plants, landfills, gas works and chemical works across the UK. He was promoted to project manager in 2018.

Since joining GB Card & Partners in November 2018 Alberto has worked on several large redevelopment projects. He has also managed remediation projects from the proposal to the verification stage dealing with clients, stakeholders and public authorities. Alberto has consolidated his project management skills and knowledge of DQRA of ground gas, contamination vapour, ground improvement and in-situ remediation techniques.  Alberto is the Geo Environmental Discipline Lead in the company and in 2022 Alberto attained a chartered status with the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) as Chartered Environmentalist. In December 2022 Alberto was promoted to Associate.

Agim Tafliku, BSc MSc FGS

Agim has over 15 years’ experience in Environmental Consultancy, particularly experienced in the design and management of ground investigations including undertaking initial desktop studies through site investigations, managing multiple sub-contractors requiring simultaneous on-site management and co-ordination to deliver the project on time.

Agim is very knowledgeable on the stratigraphy of London and the Southeast particularly London Clay Formation, Lambeth Group, Alluvium, Mercia Mudstone and Upper Chalk Groups. Additionally, Agim is extremely experienced in coordinating and supervising excavation-based and in situ remediation solutions including dual phase extraction, soil mixing and chemical oxidation, hydrogeological characterisation works including groundwater monitoring, aquifer property testing, remediation pilot testing, and the interpretation of data to produce contaminated land and geotechnical risk assessments.

Agim joined GB Card & Partners in the Autumn of 2021 as a Principal Engineer.

Francesco Intagliata, MSc CEng MICE

With over two decades of international experience, Francesco is a Chartered Civil Engineer with a BSc Hons and MSc degree. His expertise encompasses project management, site coordination, design, and technical consulting, with a strong focus on leveraging technology for business growth and innovation.

Francesco joined GB Card & Partners as an Associate Geotechnical Engineer last year joining the geotechnical design team. His previous tenure at Concept Consultants Engineering LTD saw him spearheading projects coordination, integrating operations and systems development.

His extensive international experience includes significant infrastructure projects in Papua New Guinea and the Philippines funded by the Asian Development Bank, as well as forensic engineering roles in Italy for the Civil and Criminal Court. Fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish, he brings a comprehensive and multilingual approach to engineering, ensuring effective communication and successful project outcomes.

 

Zara Chand, BSc FGS

With approaching five years’ experience across geotechnical and geoenvironmental projects throughout the UK, as an Engineer Zara brings a well-rounded skillset and a proactive approach to both site and office-based work. She has experience in the preparation of Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Ground Investigation reports, contributing to the successful delivery of projects from initial assessment through to detailed design stages.

Zara has developed a broad range of site supervision skills, including overseeing window sampling and cable percussion boreholes, as well as trial pitting operations. Her experience on site extends to managing health and safety, acting as Site Supervisor, and preparing and implementing RAMS to ensure works are carried out safely and efficiently.

Her technical capabilities also include undertaking and supervising a variety of in-situ testing and monitoring activities such as soakaway testing, falling head tests, installation and monitoring of gas and groundwater boreholes, TRL Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) testing, hand shear vane testing, and gas membrane validation works.

Recent project experience includes, Meridian Water One in Enfield, London, Zara has been involved in the preparation of groundwater monitoring reports for this major residential-led development and Cellarhead in Staffordshire, Zara’s rock logging expertise has been key in assessing ground conditions and contributing to evaluations of excavation stability.

Daniell Pullen, BSc, FGS

Dani has over 20 years’ experience working as an engineering geologist with a BSc Hons in Earth Sciences and is also a Fellow of the Geological Society, and previously sat on the Geological Society Committee as Secretary and general member for the South West Regional Group.

Dani has worked on small to large scale geotechnical projects across the UK and Channel Islands and her career has involved working for ground investigation contractors and consultancies.

Dani’s project experience ranges from major infrastructure projects to small residential developments, slope stability remediation, mining investigations and cycleway schemes. This has included working on the High Speed 2 (HS2) railway project for 6 years, as part of the ground modelling team and site assurance works. This involved supervising a site team and liaising with designers to progress the site assurance works during several ground investigation phases.

Dani also has previous extensive experience in producing slope stability assessments in the field using rope access techniques (IRATA), mainly in the Channel Islands.

Dani’s key skills include project management, design of ground investigations, producing site & office master document templates, managing geotechnical risk registers, authoring and checking geotechnical reports, scheduling geotechnical lab testing and data management as well as providing workshop presentations in PCRA quality control process for reports/data management and mentoring/supporting junior colleagues.

Dani Joined GBCP in November 2024 as a contractor at Principal level, then stayed on as a permanent employee since November 2025.
